Law
Student Scholarships by Disability or Medical Condition

Both non-profit and for-profit organizations offer scholarships for students with disabilities and certain medical conditions.  Some scholarships are also available for family members or caregivers of persons with the named conditions. Unless specifically noted, scholarships are available for students attending any ABA-accredited law school in the United States.

CCLVI Fred Scheigert Scholarship
Deadline: around March 1.
Eligibility: Legally blind undergraduate and graduate students with minimum 3.2 GPA.

William and Dorothy Ferrell Scholarship
Deadline: around April 15 of even-numbered years.
Eligibility: Legally blind students.
Award: 2 awards of $500.
Criteria: Academic achievement, financial need, and intent to pursue a career in the field of blind services.
Sponsor: Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Kathern F. Gruber Scholarship
Deadline: around April 15.
Eligibility: Spouses and dependent children of blinded veterans.
Award: $1,000–$2,000.

National Federation of the Blind Scholarships
Deadline:  around March 15.
Eligibility:  Legally blind fulltime students.
Award:  Over 20 awards of $3,000-$12,000.
Criteria:  Vary by scholarship.

Howard Brown Rickard Scholarship
Deadline: around March 15.
Eligibility: Legally blind students studying law, medicine, engineering, architecture, or natural sciences.

Cancer

American Cancer Society Great West Division Scholarship
Deadline: around April 15.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students under the age of 25 who are (1) residents of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming, (2) U.S. citizens, and (3) were diagnosed with cancer before age 21.
Award: Multiple renewable awards of $2,500.
Sponsor: American Cancer Society, Great West Division.

American Cancer Society Youth Survivor Scholarship
Deadline: around March 15.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students under the age of 25 who are (1) residents of Ohio, (2) U.S. citizens, and (3) were diagnosed with cancer before age 21.
Award: Multiple awards of $1,000.
Sponsor: American Cancer Society, Ohio Chapter.

Cancer for College Scholarships
Deadline: around June 15.
Eligibility: Current and former cancer patients pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees; must be U.S. residents under the age of 35.
Award: Multiple scholarships of $100–$4,000; some are renewable.
Sponsor: Cancer for College.

Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarship
Deadline
:  August 15, November 15, February 15, & May 15.
Eligibility:  Post-secondary students; need not have mesothelioma or exposure to asbestos.
Award:  One-time award of $500.

National Collegiate Cancer Foundation Scholarship
Deadline: around July 1.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students undergoing treatment for cancer.
Award: $1,000.
Criteria: Financial need, quality of essay and recommendations, displaying “Will Win” attitude, and overall story of cancer survivorship.

Patient Advocate Foundation Scholarships
Deadline: around April 15.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students under the age of 25 who are survivors or current patients diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening disease.
Award: 10 awards of $3,000.
Sponsor: Patient Advocate Foundation.

Matt Stauffer Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: around June 15.
Eligibility: Current and former cancer patients pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees; must be U.S. residents under the age of 35.
Award: Multiple scholarships of $100–$4,000; some are renewable.
Sponsor: Cancer for College.

Ulman Cancer Fund Scholarships
Deadline: around May 1.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students, age 35 and younger, who are either diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15 and 35 or have had a parent or guardian either diagnosed with cancer or die from cancer when the applicant was between the ages of 15 and 35; income restrictions also apply. One scholarship is for Maryland residents only.
Award: 4 different scholarships of $2,500.
Criteria: Essay, leadership, commitment to community.
Sponsor: Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.

Crohn’s Scholarship Program
Deadline: around May 1.
Eligibility: Persons with Crohn’s disease pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. Must be permanent legal U.S. residents.
Award: Up to 30 awards of up to $10,000; not renewable.

Deaf / Hard of Hearing

Alexander Graham Bell College Scholarship Awards
Deadline: around February 15.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students diagnosed with hearing loss before acquiring spoken language, use spoken communication as primary mode of communication, enrolled in mainstream university.
Award: Multiple awards of $1,000-$5,000.
Sponsor: Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

George H. Nofer Scholarship for Law and Public Policy
Deadline: around May 15.
Eligibility: Entering and current law students with moderate to profound hearing loss.
Award: $5,000; renewable.

Little People of America Scholarships
Deadline: around April 1.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students.
Award: $250–$2,000.
Criteria: Preference to (1) members of LPA diagnosed with dwarfism, (2) members of LPA who are family members of dwarfs; (3) persons with dwarfism, (4) disabled persons, (5) persons with financial need.

Keppra Family Epilepsy Scholarships
Deadline: around May 15.
Eligibility: Persons with epilepsy, or family member / caregiver of persons with epilepsy, who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. Must be U.S. citizens or legal residents.
Award: 20 one-time awards of $5,000 to persons with epilepsy; 10 one-time awards of $5,000 to family members / caregivers of persons with epilepsy.

Pfizer Epilepsy Scholarship
Deadline: around March 1.
Eligibility: College seniors who have applied to graduate school and who have epilepsy..
Award: 25 awards of $3,000.

Mike Conley Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: around May 1.
Eligibility: Colorado residents with bleeding disorders who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees.
Award: Two awards of $1,000.
Criteria: Academic achievement and promise, community involvement, financial need.
Sponsor: Hemophilia Society of Colorado.

Soozie Courter Hemophilia Scholarship
Deadline: around April 15.
Eligibility: Graduate students with hemophilia A or hemophilia B.
Award: 2 awards of $7,500.

“Education is Power” Scholarship
Deadline: around May 1.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students who have hemophilia or von Willebrand disease.
Award: 20 awards of $500-$2,500.

Hemophilia Health Services Memorial Scholarships
Deadline: around May 1.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students with hemophilia or von Willebrand disease.

Bill McAdam Scholarship
Deadline: around May 15.
Eligibility: Persons with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, or other hereditary bleeding disorder; or their spouse, partner, child, or sibling.
Award: $2,000.

Project Red Flag Scholarship
Deadline: around May 15.
Eligibility: Women with bleeding disorders including hemophilia and von Willebrand disease

Hydrocephalus Association Scholarships

ADHD Focus on Your Possibilities Scholarship
Deadline: around July 15.
Eligibility: Persons pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees who are 25 years or older and undergoing treatment for ADHD.
Award: Up to 20 awards of up to $5,000.

Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship
Deadline: around October 1.
Eligibility: Law students committed to the practice of intellectual property law who are members of a historically under-represented group in IP law (including, but not limited to, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disability).
Award: $5,000.
Criteria: Academic merit, commitment to intellectual property law, written communication skills, oral communication skills, leadership qualities, community involvement.

Operation Education Scholarships
Deadline: around August 1.
Eligibility: U.S. military veterans severely and permanently wounded as a result of service since September 11, 2001, and their spouses. Students must be attending the University of Idaho.
Award: Varies; may include assistance with tuition, fees, books, housing, transportation, child care, and more.
Sponsor: University of Idaho and Helping Our Heroes Foundation.

Paralyzed Veterans of America Scholarships
Deadline: around June 1.
Eligibility: Members of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, their spouses, or unmarried children under 24.
Award: Multiple awards of $1,000.

Patient Advocate Foundation Scholarships
Deadline: around April 15.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students under the age of 25 who are survivors or current patients diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening disease.

USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships
Deadline: around February 15.
Eligibility: Entering or current undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with an annual adjusted gross family income of $35,000 or less. Up to 50% of awards will be targeted to members of ethnic minorities and persons with documented physical disabilities. Priority consideration to applicants from Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, Washington, and Wyoming; however, applicants from all U.S. states and territories are eligible.
Award: Multiple one-time awards of $1,500.
Criteria: Academic achievement, school and community service, work experience, career and educational aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances.

Gerald & Edith Wallace Scholarship
Eligibility: Students with a physical disability who are from North Dakota farm families.
