Supplemental Materials Many study aids have problems of varying complexity that can help you test your knowledge and practice for exams. Many problem books that are not part of a series have excellent reputations: an example would be John Makdisi's Estates in Land and Future Interests. A few series, such as Understanding, Concise Hornbooks, and Nutshells do not typically have sample problems. Below are some of the series that do have practice problems:
- Black Letter Outlines provide true-false, multiple choice, and essay questions within each chapter, plus a practice exam at the end of the volume.
- Emanuel Crunchtime provides multiple-choice, short-answer, and essay questions. Note that the answers would not be considered authoritative.
- Examples and Explanations provide questions of increasing complexity within each chapter, so each question is flagged as to topic. Note that the excellent answers are designed as explanations, not as model exam answers.
- Exam Pro provides several hundred multiple-choice questions, which are flagged as to topic.
- Gilbert Law Summaries provide scores of review questions which are essentially drills in the black letter law plus a few exam-type essay questions at the end of the volume.
- Glannon Guides provide good-quality multiple choice questions within each chapter, so each question is flagged as to topic.
- The Professor Series provides exam-type essay questions at the end of the volume.
- Quick Review provides multiple choice questions and a few exam-type essay questions at the end of the volume.
- Q&A (Questions and Answers) provides scores of multiple choice and short-answer questions flagged as to topic. Volumes also contain timed practice final exams containing short-answer and multiple choice questions where the topics are not identified.
- Roadmaps provide exam-type essay questions and answers at the end of the volume.
- Siegel's provides short-essay questions in defined topics plus multiple-choice questions without defined topics. Note that the answers would not be considered authoritative.
- Student Guides provide hundreds of examples and scores of problems on defined topics.
Exams from Other Law Schools About 20 U.S. law schools have sample or past exams available on their websites; many of these also have sample answers or point sheets. Use both the exam questions and sample answers with caution: the law may be superseded or state-specific, and even the best student answer, because it is written under time pressure, will have mistakes or omissions
